Get Ready for the ANBC’s First-Ever Native Bee Fest!
The Alberta Native Bee Council (ANBC) is thrilled to announce our first Native Bee Fest, a day-long celebration dedicated to these extraordinary pollinators. Spend the day immersed in the world of native bees or simply drop in for the activities that pique your interest.
9:00am-11:30am - We’ll kick things off with a hands-on workshop where you can build your very own bumble bee box! These boxes not only provide bumble bees a home, but also serve as a monitoring station for our citizen science Bumble Bee Box Monitoring Program.
12:30pm-1:30pm - In the afternoon, we'll get some fresh air on a guided pollinator walk. This is a fantastic opportunity to catch and release bees and other pollinators, giving you an opportunity to get a closer look at live insects, learn how to identify them, and ask our local experts some questions.
2:00pm-4:00pm - To round out the festivities, we’ve curated a series of "buzz-worthy" talks covering topics from wild bee conservation to how we use managed bees to pollinate crops.
If you're planning on coming for the whole day, don't forget to pack a lunch!
