Native bees sustain the native plants that feed us and other animals, the landscapes that define Alberta, and the agricultural systems our communities depend on. When native bees are struggling, the consequences ripple outward—affecting food security, biodiversity, and the resilience of the systems that support human life.

In just a few short years, we’ve made meaningful progress. From launching a highly successful bumble bee box monitoring program to establishing a province-wide long term monitoring program, we’ve built critical community networks, rediscovered endangered species, built upon knowledge bases, and expanded outreach across Alberta. We are a trusted source of science-based information for everyone, from the public to academic researchers, but there is still much more to be done.
